Most people think that they need an acid wash only if their pool is green and full of algae. NOT SO! ! Most pools need to be acid washed every few years.

While a green algae-filled pool is one reason to acid wash, mineral content is another.

Our water is hard in Nevada and when the hardness level exceeds 700-800 PPM, the calcium deposits in the plaster cause problems all around. The industry standard is to drain the pool and acid wash it in a light acid solution with a special additive that can whiten plaster and help protect the surface from etching.
