FAQ's

Here are some common questions and answers to assist you in your decision to purchase a pool.

Questions and Answers

Q. Do I need to hire a landscaper to do my landscape design and work?

A. No. Blue Lagoon Pools works with a licensed landscape contractor that can do the work when you do the pool.

Q. I smell chlorine when I go out by my pool and my eyes burn when I swim. Do I have too much chlorine in my pool?

A. No. You do not have enough free chlorine in your pool and you need to superchlorinate or shock your pool. Chloramines have formed and that is what you smell. There needs to be more free chlorine in the water to combine with the available chlorine to get to a point which we call breakpoint chlorination to rid the pool of the nasty organic compounds in the water.

Q. I have yellow algae. Should I brush it off?

A. No! Brushing yellow algae will spread the algae spores to other parts of the pool.

Q. I have black algae. Should I brush it off?

A. Yes. Black algae needs to be brushed in order to destroy its protective outside coating to allow chlorine to penetrate the plant's root to kill it.

Q. My hair is turning green. Is it the chlorine?

A. No. It is dissolved copper compounds.
